What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda (from the Sanskrit words Ayur meaning life and Veda meaning knowledge) is an approach to healthy living based on holistic wisdom of the ancient eastern sciences. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga and literally means science of life. It is an approach to living in harmony with the universe, the seasons, and nature to achieve optimum health.Through a variety of detoxification and rejuvenation treatments combined with specific diet and lifestyle changes, Ayurveda aims to re-balance body, mind and spirit. Once established in that harmonious state, vibrant health arises spontaneously and naturally.
Five basic tenets of Ayurveda are:
Ayurveda believes that we accumulate toxins during the normal process of living either because of too much toxins in the environment (Toxic food, water and air and radiation) or because of faulty digestion and elimination because of the lack of digestive fire (called Agni). When the intelligence of the body can’t eliminate these toxins naturally, toxins accumulate in the body in various tissues and organs causing various diseases. Ayurveda calls these toxins as AMA. Superimposed by stress, overeating and unprocessed emotions these AMA become the nidus for chronic diseases.
Ayurvedic Home Detoxification program provides a natural, effective way to gently cleanse toxins from the body. While most internal cleansing programs purify the colon and digestive tract only, this Detoxification Program does much more. It helps purify the liver, supports balanced fat metabolism, helps purify the sweat glands and the organs of elimination… reduces digestive impurities… curbs the buildup of impurities in fat and muscle tissue… promotes natural, effective elimination for greater health and vitality. It improves Agni which is the underlying cause of all impurities.
Every individual is a unique entity in the very personalized system of healing, Ayurveda. Ayurvedic routine, diet, practices, and even cleanses are designed per the individual. The state of a person’s ama, agni, imbalance(s), and constitution, and even the time of the year, are all factors given consideration when tailoring a detox regimen. This individualized approach is either not present, or often overlooked in other non-Ayurvedic cleanses — which results in inefficacy and even undesired side effects of the therapies. Thus, the question, “Is this cleanse really for you?” should always be asked. In Ayurveda, there is not a one-size-fits-all approach, even if there is a similar constitution and imbalance
Ayurvedic Detoxification Routine
Ayurveda recommends a program of internal cleansing at every change of seasons to clear the channels of the body of toxins that may have built up over the previous season. Detox is particularly recommended each spring, because in the spring, your body's natural cleansing and rejuvenating mechanisms kick into high gear in tune with all of nature.
