Our Philosophy
The Mind Body Wellness Center is the brainchild of Dr. Vijay Jain MD and Michele Jain, RYT to create a healing place where clients can come to learn healthy lifestyle choices, stress reduction techniques and optimum nutritional guidelines to create vibrant health.
We have decided to provide these services and Ayurvedic Detoxification and Rejuvenation Therapies (Panchakarma) in Palm Coast, Florida (a beachside community). Our passion for integration of Ayurveda and Yoga for management of chronic lifestyle diseases has been an inspiration in opening this center.
Our mission is to provide educational tools to individuals who are interested in maintaining optimum health, prevent disease and slow down the aging process. We want to be a leader in developing an integrative model where various treatments for management of chronic diseases can be implemented under the care of an Integrative Medicine Physician.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda (from the Sanskrit words Ayur meaning life and Veda meaning knowledge) is an approach to healthy living based on holistic wisdom of the ancient eastern sciences. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga and literally means science of life. It is an approach to living in harmony with the universe, the seasons, and nature to achieve optimum health.
Ayurveda's outstanding attribute is the recognition of the uniqueness of each individual, thereby allowing treatment to be tailored to each individual and their environment. Ayurveda describes individuality through 3 doshas, or constitutional qualities: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Every person has a pre-set balance of these qualities. When the doshas are balanced within an individual, health is the result. When they are imbalanced, the disease is the eventual outcome. In general, Ayurveda seeks to restore health by restoring balance.
Through a variety of detoxification and rejuvenation treatments combined with specific diet and lifestyle changes, Ayurveda aims to re-balance body, mind and spirit. Once established in that harmonious state, vibrant health arises spontaneously and naturally.
The History of Ayurveda
Ayurveda is an ancient traditional healing modality that is about 5000 years old. The wise seers and sages of the time, intuitively understanding the physiology and workings of the mind-body-spirit long before the advents of modern medicine, explained the basic principles of Ayurveda.
The fundamentals are then laid out in several major treatises, including the texts from Charaka, Sushruta, and Vaghbhat. Some of these texts are 1500-2500 years old. The benefits of Ayurvedic medicine have been proven over centuries of use, and its methodologies are as applicable today in the West as they were thousands of years ago in the Indian subcontinent.
